PUTNAM COUNTY MAN CHARGED BY WORKER'S COMPENSATION SYSTEM

A Putnam County man has repaid more than $26,000 to the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation, after investigators caught him selling firearms out of his home, while receiving worker’s compensation benefits.  Charles Newland of Vaughnville pleaded guilty to fraud in Franklin County Common Pleas Court.  Newland was operating the business while he was off work to recover from injuries sustained in the workplace, which is a violation of the Worker’s Compensation system.
