NO SIGN OF FLU OUTBREAK IN RURAL NW OHIO
Despite reports of 7 fatalities from the H-1 N-1 flu in the Toledo area over the past month; there does not appear to be any signs of an influenza outbreak in rural Northwest Ohio.
Julie Lauf is director of nursing at the Henry County Health Department, where they have been tracking flu numbers since the fall. She says the number of flu cases in Henry County is running about the same or slightly lower than last year.
A check at the Fulton County health department indicates no sign of a flu outbreak. In November, there were only 14 flu cases reported, compared with 35 from the year before. There were 83 cases last month in Fulton County, compared to December 2012, when there were 115 cases of flue. And so far in January, Fulton County has had 30 cases of influenza, compared with over 300 for January 2012.
