MYERS TRIAL WRAPS-UP TESTIMONY, VERDICT TO BE FRIDAY
The testimony has wrapped-up in Henry County Common Pleas Court in the trial for former county commissioner Richard Myers of rural LibertyCenter. Myers is accused of having financial interest in a project to create a car production facility in HenryCounty for Peter Cola-raffi; and then trying to get Henry County Commissioners to back the project. Testimony Tuesday (today) featured witnesses called by the defense, including Ray Cox-a financial supporter of Peter Colaraffi. The owner of Revenge Designs, Peter Colaraffi testified that he was still trying to market the vehicle with Doug Pelmear’s engine. And Richard Myers testified in his own behalf about circumstances involving the loan request. The state rested its case today (Tues.) calling the retired state investigator from the auditor’s office. At that point, visiting Judge Randall Basinger announced he was dismissing the two felony charges of Money Laundering against Myers.
Judge Basinger has required attorneys for both sides to file closing statements in writing. And he has set Friday at for the release of his verdict in the case, at the Henry County Courthouse.
The state auditor’s office filed the charges against the former Henry County Commissioner.
