HOLGATE SCHOOL BOARD TALKS CALAMITY DAYS

A number of school districts are already debating how to make-up classroom days for students, due to inclement weather coming early this winter.  The Holgate School board of education got an update on the situation, with the district already using 6 calamity days, which is one over the limit.   The discussion is focusing on using a make-up day before June; but nothing has been finalized.

The Holgate school board elected Steve Thomas as president for 2014, with Tom Kelly serving as vice president.  Meetings were set for the third Monday of each month.

The board authorized Holgate superintendent Kelly Jones to serve on the Henry County Enterprise Zone tax incentive review council for this year.

The Holgate board has re-assigned Logan Feffer as head of maintenance, buildings and grounds retroactive to July 1, 2013.  He has been employed by Holgate schools for three years.

And the board got an update on the ‘wall of fame’ in the elementary, which salutes students achievement in math and reading.
