HENRY COUNTY COMMISSIONERS APPROVE REPAIRS TO COURTHOUSE
Some repairs and maintenance on Henry County facilities were approved by commissioners today (Tues.) as part of their regular session. The Henry County board approved a proposal from the W.R. Meyers Company totaling more than $30,000. The biggest chunk of those maintenance dollars go toward repairs to some sandstone blocks in the Henry County Courthouse, at just under $25,000. Another project will be to install some protection at the historic structure to prevent damage caused by birds. And about $3,700 will be spent on improvements to the sheriff’s tower located on Reiser Street behind the courthouse.
The Henry County Commissioners have approved a one-year contract extension with Connie Parker, to serve as Coordinator for the Family and Children’s First Council. That figure is $15,600, and is in effect through July 2014. The Family and Children First Council also coordinates grants for children’s programs in Henry County. That current figure is nearly $164,000.
