Bridges were a hot topic for the Henry County Commissioners during their Thursday session, in meeting with representatives from the county engineer’s office and ODOT. Commissioners passed a resolution to approve an alteration on the current southern portion of Industrial Drive; to make for a better alignment situation if a second bridge is constructed over the Maumee River. The resolution described the change as ‘alteration of the curve’ on Industrial Drive, as it approaches east Riverview.
The Henry County Commissioners also went into executive session to discuss potential land acquisition in connection with this alteration on Industrial Drive. Commissioners will view this proposal at the site on Industrial Drive on October 8th, with a final hearing date set for October 24th in the office of Henry County Commissioners. This second bridge over the Maumee River in Napoleon would allow traffic on state route 110 to have a direct route to the bypass and industrial park warehouses in Napoleon.
The other bridge discussed at the commissioner’s session was a new alignment proposed for the DamascusBridge over the Maumee River, south of LibertyCenter. This span carries traffic on state route 109; but is narrow for traffic. A public forum to discuss this new alignment is planned for Tuesday, October 8th at the LibertyCenter high school cafeteria, from 4 till .
